The PandoVault: You Never Know What Your Legacy Will Be.
In 2011, I was supposed to become the second editor in chief of TechCrunch. But Ariana Huffington gave my job away while I was in labor. So I did what anyone would do.
I raised $2.5m on maternity leave (with a baby) and started my own investigative news organization called PandoDaily.
We did monthly long form video interviews with the most significant people in the tech and media industry as an oral history of the time called PandoMonthlies.
Tl;dr: We sold the company. Eventually the videos got taken offline. And an essential resource used in education, documentaries, and non-fiction books was lost. People emailed and messaged me about it CONSTANTLY. My partner, Paul, got them all back for my 50th birthday, in one of the most romantic things anyone has ever done.
So nearly 15 years later I am re-releasing them in order, with modern commentary. Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Tony Hsieh, Naval Ravikant, Daniel Ek, Reid Hoffman. Sixty interviews, hundreds of hours. These interviews DEFINITELY hit different today.
So far, the YouTube channel has 30k views a month a counting! In an industry like journalism, you are only as good as your last story and I’m honored anyone still remembers and cares about this work, let alone so many people are rediscovering it!
