EXPOSED!!! Local News Fights Back
We haven't done an episode of Morning Don't for while. We've actually filmed several but no one (ahem, me) has had the time to produce them. So it's with much excitement I bring you the long-awaited episode 20. I've written a lot of harsh things about traditional media lately. But clearly, one local news channel has found a way to fight Web 2.0 and Google. Watch and learn.Morning Don't Ep. 20 from sarah lacy on Vimeo.

New Book
An unforgettable portrait of the emerging world's entrepreneurial dynamos Brilliant, Crazy, Cocky is the story about that top 1% of people who do more to change their worlds through greed and ambition than politicians, NGOs and nonprofits ever can. This new breed of self-starter is taking local turmoil and turning it into opportunities, making millions, creating thousands of jobs and changing the face of modern entrepreneurship at the same time. To tell this story, Lacy spent forty weeks traveling through Asia, South America and Africa hunting down the most impressive up-and-comers the developed world has never heard of....yet.

This is my favorite "Morning Don't" episodes so far, local news stations are fighting so hard to keep people watching.

The content and time given to this story was a measly :20 VO, but given the sheer number of animal lovers out there, I bet lots of people stuck around to watch.
Ahhhh, local news........the writing is on the wall.

this was absolutely hysterical and enlightening at the same time, as one local station here does the same thing, and I've never thought to tie it to the rise of web 2.0. for example, recently, the news tried to catch my attention with "how will you die?" I definitely can't find that out on google (although I'm not sure I'd want to)!

As we shift distribution models, life will work out. it's true in business and life if we are alert in search of best possible solutions.

omg. "how will you die" is a close second for best local news tease! classic.
the best part is if you watch the actual clip (above in BW's comment) HE DOESN'T EVEN ANSWER THE QUESTION! it's an ongoing investigation! still, worth watching for his opening, "well here's a mean thing to do..."
i shouldn't mock though bc all media does it to some degree. we used to joke at past places i've worked about headlines that would say things like "IS SOMEONE STEALING YOUR DATA??" and the deck would say "probably not...but ..."

If it weren't for this grand piece of TV journalism, I wouldn't even know the term "puppy-shooting" existed. Long live local news!

Hello. I ran out of toilet paper. Can you plese send me a crate of your unsold Web 2.0 book? I'm sure you have plenty of copies considering it didn't sell. Thanks.

"Who would shoot a puppy." - damn, that is hilarious. And really, this is the best Morning Don't episode ever, because it is so informative, and such a laugh.

You two are hilarious! I have to admit, those one liners do catch my attention. Now I want to find out what happened to that puppy.
