Television, Videos, Washington DC

See! Technology Is EASY!

I was just carpooling home from Yahoo and talking about how silly is it that Barack Obama wants to delay the mandatory move to digital TV. "If people don't get it by now, they're not going to in another few months," I said semi-obnoxiously.

This video sort of makes my point. I don't think a delay would help her. It also reminds me of something a friend of mine and fellow tech reporter once said: "I can't wait to get old and see what kind of new technology confuses me." (Thanks for the find @sadkids!)

Haha...thanks so much for posting, I haven't cried laughing from a YouTube video in a while - not since "QVC Katan Slip." (In fact, I have that memorized.)

But this video is really well done and gets to the point that you address - delaying isn't going to help her with the switch. In fact, I work at United Way and we've volunteered our 211 referral hotline to take calls on the matter. The test day brought in 500+.

The sooner probably the better, as it will get people to act.

Also, I can't wait till I'm older either...those darn kids will be able to read my mind by then.

Rubbish!
You think only old people are befuddled?
Ask a TV store how many HD TVs they install for people in their 20s and 30s. If it is so easy, why do young people need help?

I am 74 and still futz with wireless computer networks, beta test Windows 7 and renovate computers. Don't condemn the old.
