Once You're Lucky, Twice You're Good, User Generated Book Tour

More UGBT Good News

Just got word that my publishers at Gotham have actually decided to give me some money to fund this grand book tour idea. They almost never do this given the general sense that book tours no longer work. So all the more pressure on me (and you!) to make the events the most relevant and interesting they can be! Let's prove to publishers that people do still want to read and talk about books and ideas, and that the Web can change their industry too!

Also: What about Toronto? Why doesn't anyone in Toronto want me to come? That's a huge entrepreneur webby town right?

I know some people that live in Toronto I will ask them. I still think you should consider Indianapolis.

jonathan: happy to look into indianapolis! i've never been there. can you suggest any groups or super connected people i could reach out to to gauge interest? what would be the best way to excite people about an event?

Good news about Gotham getting with the program. How bout a website for organizing UGBTs? Looking for investors ;-)

Looking forward to your London stop in the fall!

follow in the footsteps of an author you admire. where they go, so shall you go. and do better than they did!

toronto (or is it montreal) is where they film stargate atlantis. joseph mallozzi is a writer/producer for the show. he also does a 'book club' on his website and has guest authors come 'talk'. i know your book is chillin in a different genre, but the idea still holds. create your own book club.

Sarah i am from Canada. The major cities that people go on book tours when they come up north are vancouver, toronto, ottawa and montreal because those are the major entertainment areas for media and so you can go on talk shows and hit a wide audience. Toronto is like the New York of Canada its the financial district. What they call the silicon valley of the north is Kanata a suburb of Ottawa so there will be a lot of tech savy people around. Thats where a lot of the tech firms developed just before the bubble in the late 90s but still has a vibrant tech community. Also waterloo, ontario where they have the university of waterloo (one of the best computer science depts in canada) and HQs for places like Research in motion would be a good place to hit in the fall.
But if you can only go to one place then its probably going to be Toronto since you will be able to meet with more people and get a better return for your book tour money!
