difference between cannes and sxsw is....
...reaction to my legs! i continue to get asked by everyone i meet about sxsw and the zuckerberg keynote. it's always very friendly towards me, just as during and after the conference in the US, i just can't believe ANYONE still cares about this.
loic was teasing me about being on stage again at cannes for the first time since the debacle, as you can see this video he insisted on shooting as we were trying to plan out questions for the panel..... (after the jump)
poor pascal looks at best moderately amused by witnessing the self-referential silicon valley echo chamber at its finest, but as you can tell loic is having fun, and truth be told, i was too.
but back to my legs....
at sxsw i wore some below the knee, rather conservative shorts and an angry mob of twitters told the world i clearly wasn't a serious journalist because i wore such a short micro-mini-skirt. (speaking of journalism, nice facts guys!) over and over again -- it was the deep offense people took at seeing my legs.
yesterday, i wore a dress. this one in fact. after the panel a european guy came up to me and said, "you're panel was amazing! brilliant!" i told him that i thought it went well, but i wouldn't go quite that far.
he looked confused and then said, "oh i was just talking about your legs!"
apparently, they can break a panel in the U.S. or make one in France. and here i thought they were just there to get me around!

New Book
An unforgettable portrait of the emerging world's entrepreneurial dynamos Brilliant, Crazy, Cocky is the story about that top 1% of people who do more to change their worlds through greed and ambition than politicians, NGOs and nonprofits ever can. This new breed of self-starter is taking local turmoil and turning it into opportunities, making millions, creating thousands of jobs and changing the face of modern entrepreneurship at the same time. To tell this story, Lacy spent forty weeks traveling through Asia, South America and Africa hunting down the most impressive up-and-comers the developed world has never heard of....yet.

I been wanting to say this to you since the Mark Zuckerberg interview and twitter comments by Robert Scoble and his zombies:
a) You are smart and beautiful and Robert Scoble is not (and too bad you can't keep his face off he web)
b) You have journalistic standards Robert Scoble doesn't
Best,
Maximo

omg. i typically want less attention but i have to admit, i so hope i get a song. no one has ever written a song about me!
and @maximo: thank you so much. i've had thousands of people send me heartfelt notes since it happened and all of them mean so much to me. obviously it was a net positive and all but it was personally a very hurtful few days for me.
